Overview & Reviews
A trio of new colors -- Sandstone Metallic, Silver Birch and Sport Red Metallic -- are the lone changes for this year.
- Powerful engine lineup, multiple drivetrain configurations, capable brakes, substantial towing and hauling capacities.
- Spotty build quality, mediocre interior materials.

2004 chevy 2500 HD - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By clay - November 12 - 11:03 pmIve owned this truck for almost one year and I am thoughly impressed with it. The only complaints I have beside the poor mileage 6.0 L. motor is that the sheet metal is way too thin. This is supposed to a heavy duty truck! Theyre great trucks to drive or pull with, but for working out of with guys loading tools in the back and especially over the sides they are too easily dented. The only mechanical issues Ive encountered is a irritating wind noise on the passenger side at the windshield and an annoying rattle inside the steering column. I drive off road daily on construction sites and the rattle developed quickly. This the second HD Ive had with this problem. But overall a great truck.

One tough truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Ryan - June 20 - 3:46 amI went from a 1975 IH Scout, my first truck, to the 2500HD. So it rides like a Cadillac, to me anyway. I like the ride to be a little stiff, it makes me feel connected to the rode. For those who say it rides too rough, did you test drive it? And do you realize what this truck is intended for? Get a 1500 if you want a smooth ride. The 6.0L is very strong but I would like a little more "get up and go". The interior quality could be stepped up a little also. The turning radius is decent and stock exhaust is throaty. Definitely recommend this truck if it serves your purpose.

2004 2500HD - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By jaycocamprs - August 11 - 7:06 amHave driven this truck for 1 year. Pull an 8000-pound 5th wheel camper with it. Ride is good for 2500 truck. Handles the weight real well. Power is good for small block gas engine. Clutch slave cylinder failed at 10000 miles.

2500HD Crew 4wd - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By glen - February 5 - 7:36 amI love the truck. I have always driven Fords, but the big block gas engine cant be beat. I get all of the torque and HP of a diesel without the smell and noise. It will pull anything you attach to it (including stumps and trees much to my wifes dismay). The trailer towing package makes hooking up a trailer a breeze. The truck drives better with 10,000 lbs than empty. You can expect to pass everything except a gas station. (avg 10 mpg, but I didnt buy it for gas milage) The comfort is great on trips and I can carry everthing I may need or want with room to spare. The rear seat entertainment is unbeatable for the kids. They will sit in the truck to watch DVDs more than in the house.

What happened to fuel mileage? - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By gdsbls - January 24 - 1:13 amSecond 2500HD we have owned in three years - love em. But what happened to the fuel mileage. Our 02 HD got 16-18 and this one might get 11 on a good day. 04 has more horsepower and added features. Pulls anything from our equipment to our camper with no problems. Rides good for an HD. Much more room than the Dodge or Ford - but with this fuel mileage (diesel) we may have to give up some comforts and switch over for the first time ever - and we currently own 5 GM products.

small problems big money - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Alex - November 28 - 7:13 amI have owned my 2500HD for 2 and a half years now and it has been a great truck with great power but it has nickel and dimed me to death with little repairs here and there. It gets used and now has 92,000 miles on it. The 6.0 is awesome but I think Ill go with something else next go around

Need another one - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Miss My Chevy 2500HD - November 3 - 4:40 amBest truck or car I ever owned. I miss it. I traded it in on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee...mistake! If you never owned a Chevy truck, do yourself a favor and get one. The strongest, hardest working truck/car out there.I had the HD and Im going to get another even if gas goes out of site price wise. I had Corvettes, Z-28 (1994), Mustangs, Dodge Ram (2001) and many other cars (Jeeps..etc.) and the only one I miss is the Chevy Silverado 2500HD. 12-15 miles per gal. Wish that was a little better, but my weak Jeep only gets 16 - 18 miles per gal, and the Jeep already has a transmission leak! Get a Chevy.
